The AISES National Conference has been held since 1978 and is an opportunity for Indigenous high school juniors and seniors, college and graduate students, educators, workforce professionals, corporate, government, private foundation, nonprofit, and tribal partners to network, attend workshops, presentations, and traditional Indigenous cultural events.

The National Conference is also home to the largest college and career fair in Indian Country, with many companies hosting hiring events and conducting on-site interviews.

Job seekers receive valuable interview coaching, resume development, and career planning to succeed in today’s job market.

For students interested in pursuing college or graduate school, there are resources available to assist with financial planning, applying, and information on the many STEM majors and careers available.

Attendees from all over the U.S. and Canada, including Alaska and Hawaii, make connections and find the resources to advance their academic studies and careers.

The Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the National Diversity in STEM Conference, which is now open for registration.

The conference will be held in Portland, Oregon, from October 26-28. SACNAS is the largest multicultural organization promoting diversity in STEM fields and welcomes everyone to join them in their 50th year to celebrate their inclusive national network’s transformational impact.

SACNAS believes that mentorship programs for aspiring scientists of color are essential to promote diversity and inclusivity in the scientific community.

The annual conference covers various topics, including the effects of climate change on indigenous peoples, community-engaged research, and citizen science.

The organization has grown significantly, with approximately 9,000 attendees at last year’s conference in Puerto Rico, including many of the 6,000 members of SACNAS’ roster.

SACNAS’ story began in the 1970s, when a few Native American and Chicano scientists shared an elevator at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) meeting.

At the time, advanced science degrees were rare in Hispanic and Native American communities. The first official annual meeting of SACNAS was held in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in 1973, with about 50 members in attendance.

Today, SACNAS has over 9,000 multicultural and multidisciplinary members.

The 37th annual conference of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) will be held in Chicago, Illinois from October 28-30.

The conference will focus on “Championing Hispanic Higher Education Success, Diversifying our Workforce, and Strengthening America”.

It will showcase select programs and initiatives from HACU member institutions, promote partnerships between members and public/private sector organizations, and discuss emerging trends in higher education.

HACU represents over 500 colleges and universities in the US, Latin America, and Spain. It has regional offices in Washington, D.C. and Sacramento, California.

The event aims to expand partnerships and strategic alliances for collaboration between HACU member institutions and public and private sector organizations.

The conference will also focus on fostering graduate education opportunities for Hispanic students and graduates.

Policy issues affecting Hispanic education opportunities, including HACU’s legislative agendas, will also be discussed.

Participants will be informed about Hispanic participation in scholarships, fellowships, internships, and other programs funded by private and government organizations.

Additionally, discussions will center on emerging trends in higher education affecting Hispanics and Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), such as distance learning, student-centered learning, outcomes assessment, and cross-national accreditation.
