Florida State University News reported the achievements of 2,992 fall graduates were celebrated in December with commencement ceremonies held at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center.
Speakers urged the Class of 2024 to embrace challenges and contribute to a brighter future.
The ceremonies included addresses by State Attorney Jack Campbell and FSU’s 2024-2025 Robert O. Lawton Distinguished Professor, world-renowned physicist Harrison Prosper.
In his remarks, President Richard McCullough congratulated the graduates and their families, saying, “As you leave Florida State, I want to remind each of you that you will always be a Seminole. We want you to consider this campus your home, and I encourage you to stay in touch.”
At a doctoral hooding ceremony held on Friday morning, Provost Jim Clark, the university’s chief academic officer, commended the graduates for their discipline, mental toughness, and passion.
During the afternoon ceremony, Campbell, an FSU alumnus and state attorney for Florida’s Second Judicial Circuit, addressed graduates from multiple colleges, including the Dedman College of Hospitality, the Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship, the College of Applied Studies, the College of Motion Picture Arts, the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, the College of Social Sciences & Public Policy, the College of Business, the College of Music, and the Anne Spencer Daves College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences.
In May 2024, over 6,500 students took part in the ceremonies and 7,813 graduates were awarded their degrees. These included 5,739 bachelor’s degrees, 1,379 master’s/specialist degrees, and 273 doctoral degrees.
President McCullough presided over several ceremonies, including a doctoral hooding ceremony for Ph.D. graduates.
