Over 6,500 students took part in the ceremonies and 7,813 graduates were awarded their degrees. These included 5,739 bachelor’s degrees, 1,379 master’s/specialist degrees, and 273 doctoral degrees.

President Richard McCullough presided over several ceremonies, including a doctoral hooding ceremony for Ph.D. graduates.

During the event, McCullough recognized a student who died in March after a motorcycle accident in Tallahassee and posthumously awarded his Ph.D. in chemistry.

The Seminole Tribe of Florida Color Guard presented the colors at the doctoral hooding ceremony.

During the ceremony that celebrated College of Business graduates, speaker James Seneff encouraged the graduates to embrace growth opportunities.

Seneff, who earned his bachelor’s in business from FSU over 50 years ago, shared that he wrote a 50-year life and business plan when he was 25 years old.

U.S. Rep. Neal Dunn from Florida’s 2nd Congressional District spoke to graduates from the College of Arts and Sciences during FSU’s commencement ceremony on May 3.

Dunn, who was a surgeon in Panama City for over 25 years and served 15 years in the U.S. Army, serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the Artificial Intelligence Task Force.

He encouraged the Class of 2024 to read widely and think critically.

Christopher Iansiti, a two-time FSU alumnus and an FSU College of Business Hall of Fame inductee, delivered the commencement address to the graduates of the colleges of Applied Studies, Medicine, Motion Picture Arts, Social Sciences, and Public Policy, as well as the College of Hospitality and Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship.

Iansiti shared his insights on how to start a new beginning and navigate the next transition in life, highlighting three key factors: people, performance, and potential.

FSU Coach Odell Haggins spoke to the graduates of the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering and the Colleges of Nursing, Health and Human Sciences, and Education during FSU’s commencement ceremony on May 4.

Florida State University Panama City held its commencement ceremony on May 5, conferring 99 bachelor’s and 55 master’s degrees and awarding 29 students the Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice degree for the first time.

Jorge Gonzalez, president and CEO of The St. Joe Co., delivered the keynote address during the ceremony. Gonzalez, who is also an FSU Board of Trustees member, is a two-time FSU alumnus.
