The Department of Biomedical Engineering at Florida International University’s College of Engineering has announced fall classes will begin August 26. Seven years ago, the department developed its Worlds Ahead program of research and education.
During the Spring 2019 commencement, the department said forty-four students graduated with a bachelor’s in biomedical engineering, and four students graduated with a master’s in biomedical engineering.
For the first time ever, Florida International University (FIU) recognized nine female Worlds Ahead graduates, including Giselle Valdes, a McNair scholar who has been accepted – and will decide between – Harvard and MIT for graduate school.
For Graduation Fall 2018, the department said that forty-six students graduated from the Department of Biomedical Engineering. A total of 3 master’s degrees and 43 undergraduate degrees were awarded.
The department estimates its Worlds Ahead program now has 330 alumni and a 400+ enrollment.
