The four in-person Commencement ceremonies were held on Dec. 10 and 11 at the Don Haskins Center to celebrate nearly 2,500 graduation candidates, including 590 fall semester master’s and 81 doctoral candidates.

The Commencement ceremonies recognized bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral graduates and candidates from the College of Health Sciences and College of Nursing, the College of Engineering and College of Science, the College of Liberal Arts, and the Woody L. Hunt College of Business and College of Education.

According to UTEP’s website, the Hispanic-serving institution offers nearly 170 degree options, including programs in biological sciences, nursing, psychology, education, computer science, mechanical engineering, criminal justice and finance.

Students can also build their skills with an internship, paid on-campus job, study away trip or research experience in areas such as aerospace, cancer, 3D printing, cybersecurity, bilingual education or cross-border economics.

“Paulina Rios thought that being a first-generation college student, speaking Spanish and crossing the border every day were disadvantages,” read one tweet from the official channel of @UTEPPresident. “But as she discovered at UTEP, they’re actually her superpowers.

“UTEP’s engineers and scientists are some of the best in the nation,” @UTEP tweeted. “Congratulations to you, Miners, and to your families for all the support they offered you on the path to your degrees!”
