In addition, Great Minds in STEM (GMiS) announced that the GMiS Conference is going virtual. The conference dates remain the week of October 5th.  Click here to read the full statement:

After much deliberation and consultation over the unprecedented challenges presented by the COVID-19
pandemic, particularly in regard to the health and safety of conference attendees and our team, Great Minds
in STEM is excited to announce that the 2020 GMiS Conference will be 100% virtual. The conference dates
will remain the week of October 5th, 2020.

The GMiS Conference has long been a premier venue where college students and professionals from all
underserved communities can connect with the companies, government agencies and higher education
institutions looking to recruit diverse technical talent. As our nation struggles with the twin plagues of
racial injustice and COVID-19, this critical need for our students is more acute than ever before.

Which is why GMiS has been working behind the scenes to build an engaging virtual experience, one
which sponsors, students, educators and professionals have come to expect from the GMiS conference.
We will continue working with our partner organizations like CAHSI in the coming days and weeks to
ensure we deliver the most dynamic, robust, and secure event possible.

The HENAAC Awards Show will continue its 31-year tradition of highlighting world-class professional
excellence in STEM and will be delivered as its own virtual event during conference week. We also plan
to offer exciting new programming and networking opportunities for students to connect with industry
and government leaders not only during the conference schedule, but through pre- and post-conference
events and opportunities as well.

The details of this digital footprint, including opportunities and pricing available to current and future
sponsors, will be available no later than July 25th, 2020.

GMiS is excited to broaden participation with a virtual event and connect more students, universities and
partners nationwide from traditionally under-served and underrepresented communities in STEM. To help
deliver a successful conference, GMiS will continue to partner with the University of Central Florida and
Florida International University as academic hosts.

We’d like to acknowledge Disney Parks, Experiences and Products for working with us to facilitate this
difficult yet important move for 2020. We are also pleased to announce that the GMiS Conference will
return to Central Florida and Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in 2023, after the 2021 and 2022
conferences are held in Pasadena, CA.
