As Texas State Technical College (TSTC) welcomed students back to campus, the two-year institution announced they have been ranked first in the state and third among all community colleges in the country by Niche dot com.

According to Niche, the ranking of colleges in its “2022 Best Community Colleges in America” list was based on statistics and student reviews using data from the U.S. Department of Education. The list includes public junior colleges, public technical schools, and all other public 2-year colleges. TSTC is Texas’s only public multicampus technical college, offering associate degrees and certificates in technical skills and trades.

Niche lauded the technical college for its 100% acceptance rate, its average $10,237 yearly tuition, and the more than $6,699 in yearly average financial aid awarded. Niche’s survey found TSTC had an average 12-1 student-instructor ratio across its 10 campuses. TSTC received high marks for diversity, safety, and student life.

“We’re honored to be recognized for our dedication to our students and the value we bring to families and communities across Texas,” said  Chancellor and CEO of TSTC Michael Reeser in a statement. “Our faculty and staff focus on student success toward a great career, and it shows.”

In 2018, more than 88% of TSTC graduates found a job within one year.  Some of the top technical programs by graduates were automotive technology, diesel equipment technology, electrical power and controls, and welding technology.

TSTC’s programs offer a combination of online and hybrid learning. TSTC also offers online programs in chemical dependency counseling, health information technology, computer networking and systems administration, computer programming, cybersecurity, and digital media design. Some programs, such as heating, ventilation, and air conditioning technology, industrial systems, and precision machining technology, offer evening classes.
