POSTED ON Jul 05, 2019

South Texas College, like many others around the country,  was closed on Thursday, July 4th for Independence Day 🇺🇸. But normal hours resumed Friday, July 5th. The Drone Pilot Training Summer Camp, which kicked off July 1, is one of the three-week-long camps that will run from July 1-5, July 8-12, and July 15-19. The First Tech Challenge camp also running at the same time utilizes the Robotics Build & Programming Principles of First Tech Challenge (FTC), to prepare students to compete in city and state meets.

Earlier camps, which started in June, covered architectural and civil engineering technology, basic drafting skills for the production of a design using the 3D printer/laser cutter, and visualization and utilization of Virtual Reality equipment. Other camps focused on aviation, cybersecurity concepts, robotics build and programming principles, game development, and mobile app development.

The second part of Mobile App Development camp will teach advanced Android mobile app development skills to 8th through 10th-grade students planning to pursue careers in computer science and engineering. This camp will help students create a simple Android mobile app based on their own idea. Participants must complete Part 1 in order to register for Part 2.
