STEM Jobs on the Moon in 2040

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) celebrated International Moon Day on July 20, marking the anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing and the first time that humans stepped on the surface of another world.

On Twitter, the agency responsible for the civil space program. aeronautics research, and space research, shared a video from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter that shows the astronauts’ tracks, still there after all this time. Here’s the tweet posted on NASA’s official account about Earth’s Moon.

NASA Moon also tweeted that October 1st will be International Observe The Moon Night – an annual celebration of lunar observation and exploration.

NASA has also announced commercial low-Earth orbit experiences and partnerships will enable NASA to go back to the Moon in 2024 – this time to stay — with the U.S. leading a coalition of nations and industry.

According to NASA Engineering Careers, the agency hires 20 different types of engineers to tackle its diverse missions.

“The most common fields are aerospace, general, and computer engineers,” NASA said in a blog post. “No one can build a rocket alone,” they continued. “We’re looking for engineers that understand the value of working with diverse professionals to push the envelope of what’s technically possible.” Check out the current #engineering vacancies here.

In 2021, Morris Miselowski, a futurist at SEEK, predicted several jobs that will exist in 2040. The list included food science specialists, driverless transport and logistics experts, energy engineers, digital twinning simulation developers, and digital twin engineering and manufacturing. The list also included IT technicians and developers and health heroes.
