San Diego State University, the Connecting Wildlands and Communities (CWC) project, and the Climate Science Alliance helped shape the Southwest Adaptation Forum virtual conference held in April.
According to San Diego State, the CWC project is a collaborative effort of the Institute for Ecological Monitoring and Management and the Climate Science Alliance.
The CWC project brings together a team of planners, environmental engineers, ecologists, and geographers to explore connected landscapes, adaptation, and resilience, and climate change for both ecosystems and local communities.
“There is a tremendous opportunity to work together,” said a senior research scientist who co-directs San Diego Stae University’s Institute for Ecological Monitoring and Management.
“SDSU(San Diego State University) has taken a collaborative approach in the CWC effort by bringing together perspectives to inform their work, including planners, environmental engineers, ecologists, and geographers,” said Kimberly Clark, resource conservation program manager. “With the expertise of the project sponsors and this interdisciplinary team, SDSU is connecting new information on the impacts of climate change with local governments, so that land use and transportation decisions are based on the best available climate science.”
