Ana Marie Argilagos succeeded Diana Campoamor as president of Hispanics In Philanthropy on January 1, 2018. Campoamor had served the California-based organization for 27 years. She retired September 2017.

“After a thorough succession planning and search process, the board is pleased to have identified the best individual to assume leadership of HIP— a leader that will usher this organization into its next phase of growth and innovation,” said Nelson I. Colón, Hispanics In Philanthropy’s Board Chair.

“Ana Marie’s thoughtful and collaborative style, deep knowledge of the philanthropic sector, and policy expertise make her an immensely effective champion for social innovation, economic opportunity, and urban sustainability in the Latino communities we represent,” he said.

HIP has been an advocate for investment in Latino leaders and communities for 30 years. Argilagos said she was honored and grateful to the board for the opportunity and excited to build upon HIP’s history.

“At this extraordinary moment in time for the Latino community, HIP’s mission of elevating our community’s voice while advancing equity is critical. I look forward to expanding HIP’s impact and influence to create more equitable and just communities in the Americas,” she said.

Prior to her role at the Ford Foundation, Argilagos served as deputy chief of staff and deputy assistant secretary at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.  While there, she created the Office for International and Philanthropic Innovation to deepen and scale collaboration between the public and philanthropic sectors. She has also served in leadership roles at the Annie E. Casey Foundation, the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, UnidosUS (formerly National Council of La Raza), and Ayuda, a community-based legal clinic serving immigrants in Washington, D.C. Ana Marie has served on national and international boards including the Foundation Center, UN-Habitat, OECD and World Economic Forum.

Hispanics in Philanthropy (HIP) is a California-based nonprofit that invests in Latino leaders and communities to build a more prosperous and vibrant America and Latin America.
