In 2019, the Department of Education’s Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions (DHSI) program awarded more than 40 grants to Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) to make college attainable for Hispanic students and low-income students. This September, more than $69 million was made in new awards to over 100 HSIs.
According to the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU), 248 grant applications were reviewed in 2020, and 118 Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) were selected to receive $69.4 million. The maximum award size per grant award is $600,000 per year for a period of 5 years.
