Latino ERG Digital Summit holds second event after successful start

POSTED ON Aug 19, 2020

The second Latino ERG Digital Summit was held on August 13, almost three months after Hispanic Executive and the Consortium of Latino Employee Organizations (CLEO) presented the first-ever Latino ERG Digital Summit on May 21.

“This summit continues the long standing CLEO tradition of bringing Latino ERG leaders to share best practices, participate in professional development, explore ways to collaborate and to raise awareness of leading nonprofits supporting the Latino community,” said  Robert Rodriguez, Ph.D. of DRR Advisors in a statement.

Dr. Rodriguez specializes in Latino talent management programs and employee resource group (ERG) initiatives. He is best known for his book, Latino Talent: Effective Strategies to Recruit, Retain and Develop Hispanic Professionals which is used by dozens of corporations as a framework for their Latino diversity programs.  He is also the co-author of “Auténtico: The Definitive Guide to Latino Career Success,” written with Andres Tapia.

Rodriguez also serves on the Chicago Advisory Council for the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, and is a past board chairman for the Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement (HACE).

Over one thousand Latino employee resource group (ERG) leaders from more than three hundred corporations are reported to have gathered online for the first Latino ERG Digital Summit. The program included an overview of Latino ERG groups at Adobe and Facebook, and a  professional development session focused on how ERGs can support recruiting, retention and development efforts during COVID-19.

The program for the second ERG Digital Summit included an overview of Latinoforce, the Latino ERG group at Salesforce with Francisco Salanga, lead trailhead editor, strategic partnerships, and global communications chair of Latinoforce; a keynote conversation with Ebony Thomas, senior vice president of racial equity and program executive at Bank of America, and a professional development session led by Dr. Rodriguez on how Latino employee resource groups (ERGs) can be internal advocates for social justice and equality.
