In their popular Internship Series, Handshake advises students to begin their internship search in January for Spring internship dates, May for Summer Internship dates, and August for Fall internship dates. Winter internship dates typically start in November or December.

NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) internship – Students partner with JPL scientists and engineers to assist with research efforts. To be eligible for this internship, you must be an enrolled undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) disciplines from an accredited university and have a minimum cumulative 3.00 GPA. U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Minority Serving Institutions Partnership Program (SIPP) – The SIPP Internship program is designed to provide an enhanced training environment for next-generation scientists and engineers by exposing them to research challenges. SIPP interns will be allowed to complete internships aligned with ongoing U.S. Department of Energy Office of Environmental Management research under the direction of a host national laboratory.
