The Latino Student Fund (LSF) took part in a high school Parent University and Resource Fair this week in Washington D.C. and posted the photos on Facebook. “It’s a great way for us to share our mission and reach more families who need our help,” the caption read. Founded in 1994, LSF works to encourage a college-going culture starting in pre-school.
Over the last thirty years, LSF has served more than 4,000 young people, according to its website. The fund’s initiatives help close the gap in access to education for Hispanic students. Out-of-school-time programs for low-income students and their families focus on academic support for at-risk K-12 students.
The organization alleviates barriers to higher education among first-generation youth, empowers Latino families to serve as strong advocates for their children, and creates a network of peers and mentors that LSF students can rely on whether it’s their first year of middle school or first year of college.
