Hispanics in Energy: Valerie Espinoza, New Mexico Public Regulation Commission

Valerie Espinoza was elected Commissioner of District 3 of the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission in November 2012. She was selected to be Vice-Chair of the Commission in January 2013.

The New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (NMPRC) regulates the utilities, telecommunications, and motor carrier industries to ensure fair and reasonable rates, and to assure reasonable and adequate services to the public as provided by law.

The NMPRC promotes public safety through the offices of State Fire Marshal, the Firefighter Training Academy, Pipeline Safety Bureau and Transportation Division.

Espinoza is committed to protecting the public interest while engaging utilities to advance efficiency and clean energy sources. She promotes innovation and technological advancement in the electric, gas, telecommunications, water, wastewater and transportation industries and advocates for public safety in oversight of the Fire Marshal.
