Hispanic IT Executive Council announces HITEC 50

The Hispanic IT Executive Council has released the names of the 2020 HITEC 50 award winners.
According to the announcement,  accomplishments in information technology (IT), mentoring, and professional development activities play a great part in the selection.  The list of top professionals has been compiled since 2011.

HITEC is a leadership organization of business and technology executives who have built careers in
areas such as data science, DevOps, Cloud solutions, information security, and mobile application development. The organization’s vision is to connect, inspire, and grow Hispanic technology executives while developing the next generation of leaders.

“During these unprecedented times, we’re proud to recognize the top 50 technology leaders across the Americas that have contributed to the advancements in their field, which ultimately, allows the world to stay connected,” said Omar Duque, HITEC president in a statement. “We are proud to recognize these global technology leaders,” Duque said.

Duque is a Chicago native whose parents immigrated to the United States from Guatemala. Prior to his appointment as HITEC president, Duque served as the CEO for the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He is also the co-founder of the Latinx Founders Collective, an initiative to build a community of more than 100 venture-funded Latinx startups.

This year’s HITEC 50 winners come from companies across Latin America, Spain, and Portugal.
They include SAP Latin America and the Caribbean, Microsoft Latin America, JPMorgan Chase, Dell Technologies, KPMG, Bank of America, IBM Latin America, Amazon Web Services, Cognizant, Oracle, Salesforce, Cisco Systems, Walmart, and  Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

“The HITEC 50 represents a group of technology leaders that we, as a global community, look to for inspiration, innovation, and impact. It is an honor to recognize and celebrate the HITEC 50 leaders and to showcase HITEC’s global reach throughout Ibero-America,” said Guillermo Diaz, Jr., HITEC Chairman and CEO of Kloudspot, Inc.
