Recently, GM engineering manager Imelda Trevino-Ingman was asked to establish a youth group at a high school through a worship center organization. She has been serving as a youth minister for over a year. Imelda also travels every other year to support youth activities in Guatemala.
In addition, Imelda supports a Detroit college preparatory program. She has mentored youths in this program for the past three years. Prior, she was a mentor with Winning Futures. Both programs are partnerships with Generals Motors (GM).
Since she started her career at GM, Imelda has worked in product development, global strategies, and manufacturing engineering. Imelda also earned a master’s degree in manufacturing management and another master’s in operations management from Kettering University. Currently, she is an engineering group manager. She has held this position since 2015.
Her first job at GM was as a production supervisor. Other positions she has held include working as superintendent of tool & die/production, assembly business unit manager, and plant planner. Imelda graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M-Kingsville in 1986. Then she relocated to Michigan.
