When digital information is more critical than ever, Career Communications Group (CCG) launched a podcast called High-Tech Sunday. CCG’s High-Tech Sunday showcases talent in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through the lens of spiritual philosophies.
Charles Muse currently holds the position of Program Engineering Manager within GM’s division of Battery Electric Trucks. This is a recent promotion making him responsible for executing the design, development, and launch of battery-electric truck programs.
Previously, he worked on the Cruise Origin, a future autonomous ride-sharing vehicle, and a collaborative project involving GM, Honda, and Cruise. His responsibilities included integration across vehicle engineering, autonomous vehicle technologies, and serving as engineering representative, and authority in financial, manufacturing, design, and purchasing forums, while also supporting pre-production builds, issue resolution, system integration, requirement specification, etc. Muse also led two revolutionary technologies to execute validation and service of fully autonomous vehicles, managing a multimillion-dollar budget and very complex deliverables.
Charles is a huge advocate of minorities in pursuit of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). He has dedicated himself to paying it forward, supporting mentoring through various programs. These include Philadelphia’s Urban Youth Racing School, the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), Chevrolets Discover the Unexpected (DTU), Jack & Jill, Rainbow Push, The Ohio State University Alumni Podcast, Detroit Rebuild Project Cody, and GM’s annual bring your kids to the workday. He has also participated in multiple speaking events and served as a panelist at various conferences.
Charles holds a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from Ohio State University. He continues his studies online at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with their Micro-Master’s Supply Chain & Logistics Engineering program. Outside of work, mentorship, and academia Muse is a fully licensed private pilot and a certified flight instructor.
Charles joined General Motors (GM) in 2011 as a university intern. Since joining GM, he has excelled in various assignments and positions, including Global Noise & Vibration, Chassis, Energy & Aerodynamics, Engineering Operations, Design & Release Engineering, as well as Autonomous and Electrified Vehicle Engineering. Within this time, he was quickly recognized as high potential and promoted because of his ethical leadership, ability to innovate, effective team building, drive for results, and track record of exceeding business standards.
