The American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) have announced a “Natives at NASA” webinar which will be held on February 23rd. Featured speakers include Native American scientists and engineers at NASA.
According to the announcement, a mechanical engineer at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a Glenn Research Center aerospace engineer, and an associate chief in the electrical engineering division at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center will lead a discussion on the possibilities of an internship and career with NASA.
Aaron Yazzie designs mechanical systems for NASA’s robotic space research missions. Yazzie received the 2021 Technical Excellence Award from AISES for his contributions to the development of the Perseverance Rover’s rock sample collection system.
Joseph Connolly serves as a technical lead for propulsion controls. He is also a Sequoyah fellow of AISES and an associate fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
Marcellus Proctor assists in the leadership of an organization of engineers, technicians, managers, and support staff engaged in the design, analysis, development, integration, validation testing, launch, and on-orbit verification of electrical and electronics systems, associated flight, and ground subsystems and components. He is the co-chair of the AISES Government Relations Council, and a lifetime member of the Society of American Indian Government Employees, AISES, and the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE).
