AISES has announced the 2020 National American Indian Science & Engineering Fair (NAISEF) will be both an in-person and virtual science fair held at Oklahoma State University on April 4, 2020. The Grand Award winner for the Senior Division will receive a chance to participate in the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) from May 10-15, 2020 in Anaheim, CA.

To compete in the National American Indian Science & Engineering Fair (NAISEF), applicants must be members of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES), and 5th to 12th-grade students, who have not reached age 20 on or before May 1.

Projects may be submitted by individual students or teams of up to three students, and at least one team member must be American Indian/Alaska Native/Native Hawaiian. Each participant (whether an individual or team) must have one adult sponsor (either a parent, teacher or mentor) Judges & Volunteers Needed. Click here for more information on NAISEF.

Every year, millions of students compete in science fairs, but only about 1,800 get to compete for the awards bestowed each May at ISEF, the world’s premier science, technology, engineering,  and math (STEM) competition hosted by the Society for Science & the Public.

Last year, the Society for Science & the Public was part of a documentary following students from Mexico, India, Indonesia, and Hawaii as they prepared for ISEF 2016. The film competed and premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival.
