Friendly Coding Competition in honor of Computer Science Education Week

POSTED ON Dec 05, 2018

In honor of Computer Science Education Week (Dec. 3 – Dec. 9), Code Ninjas has announced an initiative to generate interest in computer science education. The children’s coding franchise will host free Hack-A-Thons at 55 centers using the kid-friendly programming language, Scratch.

“We are thrilled to bring together the giving spirit of the holidays, awareness for computer science education and the fun of Code Ninjas under one roof,” said David Graham, co-founder, and CEO of Code Ninjas. “This is a unique opportunity to help bring communities together and create a rewarding experience for everyone involved.”

Code Ninjas teaches children ages 7-14 to code by building video games in a safe and inspiring environment. With a nine-belt curriculum inspired by martial arts, Code Ninjas keeps kids engaged, while parents see their children gain life-changing STEM skills.

On December 8 and 9, Code Ninjas will host Hack-A-Thon events at 55 participating centers. At each event, students will explore computer programming while getting a chance to win prizes and raise funds for local charities.

Participants will pair up and go head-to-head in a friendly coding competition.

Code Senseis (instructors) will choose the top three teams at each center. The top team at each center will be voted on by Code Ninjas HQ for a chance to win national prizes including a premium gaming laptop and a 3D printer for children.

Each Holiday Hack-A-Thon event is free, open to the public and held at participating Code Ninjas centers only. Participants must be between 7-14 years old and have some experience with Scratch to take part in the Hack-A-Thon. Contact your local center to register.
