Last week, Arizona State University announced on YouTube that the public research university in Phoenix had been named the most innovative school in America for the sixth year in a row by U.S. News and World Report.

“The No. 1 in innovation ranking is a welcome reminder of the mission and beliefs that fuel discovery and progress at ASU,” said President Michael Crow in a statement. “Particularly at a time when universities worldwide are reimagining what traditional and remote learning looks like, I am very proud of our continued efforts to innovate with speed, at scale.”

According to U.S. News & World Report, top academics participating in a peer assessment survey in the spring and summer of 2020 were asked to name the institutions they think are the Most Innovative Schools.

College presidents, provosts, and admissions deans were asked to nominate up to 15 colleges or universities in their U.S. News Best Colleges ranking category that are making the most innovative improvements in terms of curriculum, faculty, students, campus life, technology, or facilities.

The Most Innovative Schools rankings are based solely on the top academics’ responses to this question, which was a separate section of the annual 2020 peer assessment survey.
