POSTED ON Dec 18, 2019

Arizona State University is celebrating more than 8,400 gradates to round out the year. To mark the occasion, the college launched an online series called ASU’s profiles for fall 2019 commencement. The stories showcase trailblazing students soon to be alumni. The stellar list includes a civil engineering grad who always dreamed of a career in architecture, a Mathematics Dean’s Medalist, and an Outstanding Graduate in the aviation programs award winner.

Among the more than fifty unique stories of success in science, technology, engineering, and math  (STEM) fields is Tasha Romero, who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in digital culture this December from the School of Arts, Media, and Engineering.

According to ASU, Romero hopes to launch a career in content creation in esports.

“I aspire to continue streaming games, creating videos, making costumes and somehow find a way to bring more meaning to the world of video games,” she told ASU’s, Sarah A. McCarty. “Video games for me have built communities, they have helped me with mental health issues, and they have allowed me to explore infinite possibilities.”
