18 STEM students at San Diego State University get ARCS scholarships

POSTED ON Jan 04, 2019

Eighteen students majoring in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields at San Diego State University were awarded Achievement Rewards for College Scientists (ARCS) Foundation scholarships in the fall.

Funding for the 2018-19 year went to students majoring in biology, organic chemistry, ecology,  geophysics, chemistry, molecular biology, and microbiology.

ARCS Scholars are selected annually by qualifying departments of science, engineering and medical research within ARCS Foundation’s partner universities and colleges like San Diego State.

Since 1989, the San Diego chapter of ARCS has supported San Diego State University students with more than $3 million in scholarships.

ARCS was started and is run entirely by women who boost American leadership and help students working toward degrees in the natural sciences, medicine, and engineering.

Since its founding in 1958, ARCS has awarded more than $100 million to 9,600 scholars in STEM programs at leading U.S. universities.
