The ReliaQuest Labs program, which began in 2018, provides hands-on labs and mentorship from industry experts to sharpen students’ cybersecurity and incident response skills. The program is challenging and includes real-world scenarios and small group work with mentors.

Graduates of the program praised it for providing valuable experience, knowledge, and insight while instilling a culture of learning and growth. The program has graduated over 350 students and has provided employment opportunities for several USF students in the highly competitive cybersecurity field.

The ReliaQuest partnership has led to two funded research projects, one focusing on using AI for cyber threat detection and the other exploring innovative cybersecurity learning and pedagogy.

Associate Professor Clinton Daniel from the School of Information Systems and Management stated that the program provided students with valuable “real-world” experience and exceptional technical and intellectual support from industry professionals who work with the latest technology.

He added that the program has had a tremendous impact on the lives of many USF students by providing them with opportunities for employment in an increasingly competitive and prosperous cybersecurity industry.

The US Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts a 35% increase in demand for information security analyst jobs through 2031, making this program an excellent opportunity for those interested in entering this field.
