Today marks the 11th anniversary of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which has enabled nearly 600,000 individuals to contribute to the country and economy. Eligible DACA recipients are encouraged to renew their status while first-time applications must be processed.

The total number of Dreamers who could benefit from a Dream Act or Dream provisions will likely be around three million. In 2021, the Migration Policy Institute (MPI) estimated that nearly three million Dreamers could have benefited from the latest version of the bipartisan Dream Act introduced in the Senate that year.

According to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the number of active DACA recipients as of June 2022 is 594,120.

A report by FWD.us shows that a significant majority (86% or more) of the initial group of DACA recipients from 2012 are now employed, while less than 10% are currently enrolled in a college or university program.

Almost all (99%) of the recipients have completed high school, with at least 48% having some college education. Since 2012, the median income of this group has increased sevenfold, contributing $108 billion to the economy and $33 billion in combined taxes. Many have started families, with 39% having married and almost half (48%) having at least one child at home.
