The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) held four in-person Commencement ceremonies to celebrate more than 2,800 graduates and degree candidates from the fall and summer of 2024.
These ceremonies took place on Saturday, December 14, and Sunday, December 15, honoring bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral graduates from various colleges, including the College of Health Sciences, the College of Nursing, the College of Science, the Woody L. Hunt College of Business, the School of Pharmacy, the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Education, and the College of Engineering.
To commemorate the Class of 2024, the “Mining Minds” Pickaxe Sculpture, located at the Sun Bowl-University Roundabout, was illuminated in UTEP blue and orange from the evening of Tuesday, December 10, through Sunday, December 15.
This iconic sculpture, installed in 2010, symbolizes UTEP’s academic and cultural achievements.
In addition, the “M” on the Mountain, situated across from Sun Bowl Stadium, was lit in honor of the graduates from Tuesday evening, December 10, through Sunday evening, December 15.
According to UTEP’s website, this Hispanic-serving institution offers nearly 170 degree programs, including fields such as biological sciences, nursing, psychology, education, computer science, mechanical engineering, criminal justice, and finance.
Students also have opportunities to enhance their skills through internships, paid on-campus jobs, study abroad trips, and research experiences in areas such as aerospace, cancer research, 3D printing, cybersecurity, bilingual education, and cross-border economics.
