Pro Bono Week is a global celebration that takes place during the last week of October. It celebrates the pro bono ethic across the professions that use their talents to make a positive difference in local communities around the world.

Maria Martinez is president, Global Customer Success, and Salesforce Latin America. With more than 30 years of experience in business and technology leadership roles, Martinez leads Salesforce’s Customer Success Group and is also GM of the company’s Latin and Central America business.

Her primary focus is helping customers transform their businesses and realize their ambitions faster.  The Global Customer Success organization encompasses the company’s customer success managers, architects, cloud practices, accelerators, innovation and transformation consulting, renewals and more.

At Salesforce, Martinez is recognized as a champion of pro bono, During Pro Bono Week 2017, Martinez tweeted:

“Pro bono work is the perfect opportunity to connect my passions with my proficiencies. There is no better feeling than knowing that you mattered and made a difference.”

Martinez has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Puerto Rico, and a master’s degree in computer engineering from Ohio State University. According to the Global Pro Bono Network, pro bono is derived from pro bono publico, which is Latin, “for the public good” and refers to professional services that are delivered without any expectation of a fee to organizations that serve the social good.

Pro bono services provide support for community organizations and are becoming a core part of the ethics of professionals who believe in making high-quality professional services accessible to organizations serving the public good, the network.

Every year, thousands of people volunteer their professional expertise in marketing, legal services, HR, strategy and IT to support nonprofits.
