Earlier this year, California State Fullerton interviewed rising star Lauren DuCharme. In the conversation, the 2015 grad spoke about the value of interning and working at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). But her dream of designing spacecraft was almost deferred.
When Lauren was a student at Cal State Fullerton, her car took a full-on hit and she was left with a shattered elbow and broken wrist. Lauren spent six months learning how to reuse her arm.
As a flight systems engineer, Lauren is responsible for testing flight software and hardware to advance NASA’s quest for future human exploration of Mars.
“I feel extremely fortunate to have been able to fully immerse myself in what I am most passionate about,” the Cal State Fullerton alumna said.
