Twenty students drawn from more than 300 member institutions of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HAC) have each received a Café Bustelo® El Café del Futuro Scholarship of $5,000.
According to HACU, $340,000 in college funds have been awarded to 69 Latino students since the coffee brand launched the El Café del Futuro Scholarship in partnership with HACU. In 2019, the campaign generated more than 1,900 competitive applications.
On their website, Café Bustelo says they look for full-time undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at HACU-member institutions, with a passion for community and furthering their education.
This year, the Café Bustelo® El Café Del Futuro Scholarship recipients are majors in accounting, biology, computer science, engineering, mechanical engineering, nursing, mental health, social services, and more. Click here to read more about the student recipients.
The application period opened on February 24 and ended Monday, July 6 at 11:59 p.m. CT.
“At Café Bustelo, we believe in supporting and reinvesting in the Latino community,” said Eduardo Merino, senior brand manager at Café Bustelo, earlier this year. “Whether our community is living in the moment and awakening their senses through a cafecito or planning for the future with a college education, we want to have a hand in helping them make the most of it. ¡Vivimos en el momento y planeamos para mañana!”
