Grace Lieblein retired as vice president of quality for General Motors (GM). At one point in her long career, she was the highest-ranking Latina in the auto industry. One vehicle development leadership team she headed was said to be made up of women, many of whom were working moms. Hispanic Engineer magazine’s Top Hispanics of the Decade list features some of the most influential people in technology.
Among Grace’s career highlights, she served as Chief Engineer for the mid-size crossover vehicles that include the award-winning Buick Enclave. She was also the first woman to be named as President and Managing Director of GM Mexico, and from there she served as president and managing director of GM Brazil.
Since 2012, Grace has been a director on the board of Honeywell and joined the board of Southwest Airlines in 2016. She joined the American Tower Board in 2017 and has served on non-profit boards as well, including the Karmanos Cancer Institute and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Mexico. She was named Engineer of the Year in 2014 by Great Minds in STEM.
