We are just a few weeks away from National Intern Day, celebrated annually on the last Thursday of July. This day is dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the contributions of interns in the workplace.
Founded in 1992, the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) National Internship Program (HNIP) offers a paid internship opportunity for students of all majors.
HNIP started with 24 students and one federal agency and now places over 400 students annually in internships across the nation.
In the summer of 2024, HNIP welcomed 170 college students to the fall session.
A hybrid orientation held on August 30, 2024, provided valuable information about federal agencies and Hispanic-serving institutions.
HACU also opened its spring 2025 internship session, with applications due by October 18, 2024. This session ran from January 6, 2025, to April 18, 2025.
On May 30, 2025, HACU welcomed new college students to the 2025 summer session of the HACU National Internship Program. A webinar orientation was held for interns serving across federal agencies in Washington, D.C., and field offices nationwide. Interns will serve for 10 weeks during this summer internship session.
HACU is currently accepting applications for the fall 2025 session of its internship program. The Fall Internship Program will take place from September 1 to December 12, 2025, with an application deadline of July 15.
