The 14th International Conference of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) took place at the University of Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain.

The sessions included topics such as “Connecting Engineering for The Americas with the World” and “Digital University: Holistic Transformation Process.”

Additionally, there was a student track for 28 U.S. college and university participants.

The event concluded with a focus on “Forging a Common Policy Agenda for Pan-Hispanic International Education” on June 5″.

HACU collaborated with Google to host the annual Google Latinx Student Leadership Summit in April at the Google offices in Chicago, Illinois.

The summit, previously known as the Hispanic Student Leadership Summit, is now in its eighth year.

The event aimed to bring Latinx leaders together to share innovative best practices and collaborate with Google’s Latinx leadership to benefit their university, organization, and community.

During a presentation focused on student programs, Hugo Cantero, student services manager, and Richard Montez, executive director of member services, emphasized the importance of attending a Hispanic-serving Institution.

Fifty undergraduate students passionate about technology participated in leadership development activities during the three-day summit.

The guiding theme of the summit was “Juntxs: Our Latinx Journey in Tech,” celebrating the collective strength of Latinx students’ voices and experiences.

The agenda included breakout discussions to foster community within their Familia Groups, keynote speakers, and networking with the Latinx Googler Network (from HOLA and Talent Outreach representatives), HACU, and Computing Alliance of Hispanic-Serving Institutions.

The summit focused on equipping students with hands-on workshops to prepare them for successful tech careers, showcasing Google’s dedication to supporting the Latinx tech talent pipeline, and deepening the connection between Googlers and Google’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives.
