Several participants, including Melody Martinez, head of the Prototypes and Flight Experiments Branch at the Air Force Research Laboratory, Space Vehicles Directorate, and Ana Lucia Ochoa-Lorenzini, director of supply chain management at American Axle & Manufacturing (AAM), will be honored at the award ceremonies in Detroit, Michigan.

Did you know about WOC award winner Margarita “Maggie” Dominguez? She was the first woman engineer hired by Tampa Electric in 1975 and went on to hold many management positions, including director of environmental services and director of the Tampa Electric Bulk Power Department. Her expertise in sales and customer service helped her excel in her career. Dominguez is now a realtor, but she looks back on her time at Tampa Electric with pride.

During the 2023 Technology Luncheon event in Detroit, Michigan, the winners of the Technology All-stars and Technology Rising Star awards will be announced.

All events will be live-streamed on the WOC STEM digital win experience (DTX) platform. Don’t forget to mark your calendar for October 12-14. This year’s conference theme is Waves of Change, Oceans of Opportunity and it will be held in person in Detroit, Michigan, as well as on the WOC STEM digital twin experience DTX platform on October 12-14.

For almost 30 years, the WOC STEM Conference has celebrated the incredible contributions made by women of color, inspiring future generations of skilled workers. The event also highlights the stories of pioneering women, showcasing the possibilities of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
