The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) is accepting applications for the fall internship session of 2024, from September 2 to December 13.

The deadline for applications is June 28, 2024. Interested individuals can find eligibility criteria and apply online on the HACU website.

HACU has also announced that 11 students have been selected as HACU National Internship Program (HNIP) Ambassadors.

These students had served in federal internships during the spring semester through HNIP.

The HNIP Student Ambassador Program is a leadership opportunity for students who received internships through HNIP, to share their experiences with their campus communities through public speaking engagements.

To qualify for this program, applicants must have interned for at least one session with HNIP.

The students selected for the HNIP Student Ambassador Program are from various universities including California State University, Fullerton, California State University, Long Beach, Florida Atlantic University, George Mason University, Kansas State University, Marymount University, McDaniel College, Nevada State University, University of Puerto Rico, Humacao, University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras, and the University of the District of Columbia.

In April, HACU held a virtual ceremony to bid farewell to its 2024 spring interns.

About 200 undergraduate and graduate students participated in these internships for 15 weeks as part of HACU’s National Internship Program.

The internship opportunities were provided by agencies in the Washington, D.C. metro area and field offices.

Some of the agencies included the Library of Congress, Securities and Exchange Commission, Small Business Administration, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, National Institutes of Health, and the U.S. Department of Treasury.

Executive Director of HNIP, Diana Vasquez, welcomed and congratulated the interns on completing their internship.

A keynote address was given by former HNIP intern, Tatiana Muriel, who is now a contract specialist for the U.S Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Current interns, Alondra Labastida Campos of McDaniel College, Adriana Pinero Tores of the University of Puerto Rico, Humacao, David Muñoz of George Mason University, and Claire Chang of California State University, Fullerton also spoke about their internship experiences during this session.
