Hispanic Engineer & Information Technology online starts the week with a look at federal study abroad programs focused on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The programs we compiled are just a few of those listed on the Department of State’s Study Abroad website. Each program provides funding for STEM education and research, international programs, and allows for study and research abroad.
Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program provides a continuing source of highly qualified scientists, mathematicians, and engineers by awarding scholarships to college students who intend to pursue research careers in these fields.
Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarship Program encourages graduate-level research — particularly by female and minority students — in National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) mission-related sciences of oceanography, marine biology and maritime archaeology, including all science, engineering and resource management of ocean and coastal areas.
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Fogarty International Center supports health research conducted by U.S. and international investigators. Fogarty seeks partnerships between health research institutions in the U.S. and abroad who will train the next generation of scientists to address global health needs.
Registered Apprenticeship Program is active in traditional industries such as construction and manufacturing, but it is also instrumental in the training and development of emerging industries such as healthcare, energy, and homeland security.
USDA Pathways: Saul T. Wilson Jr., Scholarship Program is an opportunity for students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) disciplines to receive a full scholarship and be gainfully employed upon degree completion.
USDA/1994 Tribal Scholars Program provides scholarships for applicants attending 1994 Land Grant Tribal Colleges and Universities seeking careers in food, agriculture, and natural resource sciences, and/or other related disciplines.
