On National STEM Day, the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) announced that it is celebrating the powerful impact of Indigenous voices in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).
According to AISES, Indigenous individuals in STEM are helping to build a future that respects tradition while embracing new possibilities. They are engaged in exploring new research frontiers and innovating technologies that strengthen their communities.
AISES recognizes every Indigenous student, professional, and community leader in STEM as a beacon of hope and resilience, redefining what is possible with each step they take.
In a social media post, AISES stated, “You’re not just opening doors—you’re building paths for generations to come, honoring those who came before you and inspiring those yet to come.”
They continued, “To all the Native changemakers in STEM, know that your journey is important and your impact is immense. Keep reaching higher, and together, let’s shape a future rooted in culture, community, and innovation.”
National STEM Day is celebrated annually on November 8 to encourage students to explore careers in STEM.
In addition to AISES, other organizations also shared messages online to inspire and motivate. The SI Group supports programs designed to inspire the next generation of scientists, technologists, engineers, and mathematicians.
