The annual career convention, hosted by the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS), features workshops on new skills, insights, and mentorship programs. This year’s event is scheduled for April 22-24, 2025.
To participate, apply by March 14. Past attendees, including undergraduate and graduate students, have described the SACNAS CareerCon as a pivotal experience that helped them grow and explore new career paths in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
SACNAS has also announced applications for the upcoming Research Presentation are due by March 28, 2025.
Individual research presentations from students and postdocs will be mentor-judged. The poster presentations will occur concurrently for two hours in the expo hall.
Separately, proposals for the STEM Symposia are due by April 4, 2025. The symposia include a moderate series of presentations discussing papers or technical talks followed by a Q&A.
Over one hundred graduate and undergraduate students were recently recognized for their research and presentation skills at the 2024 National Diversity in STEM Conference, held in Phoenix from October 31 to November 2.
The 2024 conference awarded students in several categories, including Analytical Chemistry, Animal Sciences/Zoology, Plant Sciences/Botany, Biochemistry & Cell/Molecular Biology, Bioengineering/Biomedical Engineering, Cancer Biology & Pharmacology, Cell/Molecular Biology & Developmental Biology, Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, Environmental Science, Genetics & Neurosciences, Geosciences, Inorganic & Organic Chemistry, Marine Sciences & Ecology/Evolutionary Biology, Mathematics & Physics/Astronomy, Mechanical & Other Engineering, Medicine, Public Health & Physiology/Pathology, Microbiology, Other STEM Education & Traditional Knowledge, Physical Chemistry & Materials Research, Psychology & Social Sciences, and Science Education.
