The 2021 National Convention of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers will take place at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. According to SHPE, this year’s theme “The Most Magical Time” celebrates the evolution of SHPE, the empowerment of its members, and the magic of Hispanics in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) careers.
The organization was formed in 1974, and Rod Garcia, seen on the cover of a recent issue of Hispanic Engineer magazine, served as the first president of the organization. SHPE has announced that with now over 9,000 members, the event is the largest gathering of Hispanics in STEM every year.
The convention is made up of five distinct conferences: Pre-College, Academic, SHPEtinas, SHPETech, and Professionals in STEM. There are also competitions, networking events, the Career Fair, and a Graduate School Expo. Click here for more information.
