Many events in academic, corporate, cultural, and social calendars have been livestreamed on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram, since the pandemic began. During spring, the University of Central Florida College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) announced its first-ever virtual research talks.
Past presentations have showcased innovation within CECS, in partnership with federal agencies and employers such as Lockheed Martin, Siemens, and Walt Disney World. According to the college’s website, projects include 3D-printing, modeling and simulation, medicine, and cyber security. Faculty come from various CECS departments, including mechanical and aerospace engineering, civil, environmental and construction engineering, industrial engineering and management systems, and materials science and engineering.
CECS announced recently that on Friday, October 30, talks will include research on Wrong-Way Driving, additive manufacturing (or 3D printing) of metallic alloys, a self-healing smart grid, hypersonic jet engines, exploding stars, and COVID-19. Click here for more information.

In related news, UCF says that based on enrollment numbers, the top 5 CECS majors for undergraduates are computer science, mechanical engineering, information technology, aerospace engineering, and computer engineering.
Computer science is also the No. 1 favorite for graduate programs, followed by engineering management, mechanical engineering, and digital forensics.
