Texas A&M-Kingsville has received a national ranking for its masters-level online industrial engineering program from the College Choice dot net web site.
The online industrial engineering master’s program, which is part of the College of Engineering at Texas A&M-Kingsville, was ranked sixth in the nation among the Most Affordable Online Masters in Industrial Engineering Degrees for 2018.
To come up with its list, College Choice used data from the National Center for Education Statistics’ IPEDS database, Payscale, the U.S. News & World Report, and individual college websites.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were 257,900 people with this job title in 2016 and the field is projected to grow about 10 percent through 2026.
Industrial engineers find ways to eliminate wastefulness in production processes. They devise efficient systems that integrate workers, machines, materials, information, and energy to make a product or provide a service.
Previously, the online master’s program in industrial engineering was named among the top ten Best Master’s Degree Programs in Engineering Online by Best College Reviews dot org.
The program has also been ranked by U.S. News and World Report for quality, student engagement and accreditation, and student services and technology.
Most of Texas A&M-Kingsville’s approximately 8,300 students come from South Texas. Eighty-two percent of students are undergraduates.
Ethnically, the campus reflects the demographics of the area, with 62 percent of the students Hispanic, 27 percent white, and five percent African American. About six percent are international students.
