The United Nations designated April 21 as World Creativity and Innovation Day to raise awareness of the importance of creativity and innovation in all aspects of human development.
Creativity supports social and economic growth and is considered one of the top skills valued by employers. However, it often receives little attention in education.
According to the United Nations, creativity can be expressed through art or by finding innovative solutions to problems. While creativity is vital, innovation is essential for addressing some of the biggest challenges communities and societies face today.
Are you an educator, youth leader, or content creator?
UNESCO has launched a media and information literacy (MIL) toolkit for youth organizations, providing practical guidance to navigate the vast information landscape.
This “Journey through the MILtiverse” toolkit is designed to help organizations transform today’s digital challenges into opportunities.
The toolkit features nine interactive missions within a comprehensive training module, customizable templates for developing media and information literacy strategies and action plans, and a localization tool to help adapt content to specific contexts and needs.
The “Journey through the MILtiverse” aims to support youth organizations at every stage, from understanding the principles of media and information literacy to crafting tailored policies, strategies, and action plans.
It covers various pressing topics such as disinformation, generative AI, and ethical content creation, all presented as interactive missions in an interstellar journey.
The toolkit also offers additional templates for developing MIL policies and strategies, ensuring youth organizations can customize their approaches based on their unique needs and interests.
Creativity & innovation are needed to tackle the world's biggest challenges, from poverty to inequalities.
