The graduating class of 2024 at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) took part in multiple Commencement ceremonies, during which over 6,900 students received their graduate and undergraduate degrees.

These ceremonies occurred from May 17 to May 20 and featured colorful mortarboards, stoles, and dances.

They also announced the winner of their third annual commencement mortarboard tournament: a Minecraft-themed mortarboard created by a CPP graduate from The Collins College of Hospitality Management.

The winning design triumphed after four rounds of voting to claim the top prize. To see the photo gallery of mortarboards from the CPP Class of 2024, click here.

2014 Engineering Hall of Fame inductee, Brian Jaramillo, former chair of the College of Engineering Dean’s Leadership Board, and COO of Tilden Coil, delivered an inspiring speech along with David Singelyn, co-founder of American Homes For Rent.

Jaramillo urged the graduates to give back to their communities and to find a vocation they love, while Singelyn emphasized the importance of communication, maintaining a professional digital presence, and nurturing relationships.

President Soraya M. Coley encouraged the graduates to set high goals for themselves, exhibit discipline, and seek growth opportunities.

Andrew Ketsdever, who became the Dean of the College of Engineering at Cal Poly Pomona on July 10, 2023, commended the graduates for their dedication to excellence in academics, research, and community involvement. He emphasized the class of 2024’s demonstration of innovation and problem-solving in the field of engineering.

Cal Poly Pomona posted numerous photos in its 2024 CPP Commencement Mortarboards album on social media.
