The Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) has announced that it will have an information table at the American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC) Student Conference, which will take place from March 8 to 11 in Rapid City, South Dakota.

The AIHEC conference will feature workshops on various topics, including tribal colleges and universities, esports teams, career pathways in health careers, the value of a college degree, student retention, and practical applications of artificial intelligence (AI).

One specific workshop will focus on best practices for utilizing AI tools.

Additionally, the conference will include competitions in Critical Inquiry, Cyber Security, Science Bowl, scientific poster presentations, Traditional Plants and Herbs, and the NASA Unpiloted Robotic Vehicle.

The AIHEC Student Congress will also hold a congress during the conference to promote leadership, self-governance, cultural preservation, educational achievement, and community development.

SACNAS aims to support Native and Indigenous students in STEM through community engagement, mentorship, and professional opportunities.

Moreover, SACNAS has opened registration for the first of three webinars in its “Building Community: Resources for Mentoring” series.

The panel, scheduled for April 8, will discuss maintaining a supportive community, mentoring innovations, key resources, and advice from experts in government, industry, and academia. This is a valuable opportunity to gain insights and strengthen your mentoring network.

Finally, SACNAS has issued a call for applications for its career convention. The virtual event is set for April 22-24, 2025, but applications will close on March 14.

The SACNAS career convention is more than just a career fair; it is an immersive, community-based learning event for SACNAS members exploring careers in various sectors.

The annual event provides opportunities to connect with experts, discover job opportunities, and build skills essential for thriving in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) careers.
