Recently, the Concordia University Office of Community Engagement and Abundant Intelligences hosted a community event focused on how Indigenous communities can leverage the power of data and artificial intelligence.

The public discussion emphasized the ways Indigenous creatives and artists are using AI to empower their communities.

Earlier this year, TribalHub held its 4th Annual Tribal Cybersecurity Summit on March 7, 2024.

The summit was conducted virtually, reaching a nationwide audience.

The agenda was designed for technology professionals working in tribal gaming, tribal government, or tribal health facilities.

Attendees had the opportunity to participate in a variety of sessions throughout the day, as well as a virtual tradeshow featuring sponsors collaborating with tribal entities on issues of data sovereignty, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence (AI).

Additionally, TribalHub announced the formation of an all-star board of advisors to help create an agenda of significant value for anyone concerned with protecting their tribe’s assets, information, and communities.

TribalHub also hosted the recently concluded 2024 TribalNet Conference & Tradeshow, which took place from September 15 to September 19.

This event included various sessions on topics such as Indigenous data sovereignty, data governance focusing on tribal government technology, the use of data and analytics in decision-making, emerging technologies for operational improvements, organizational culture and cybersecurity, as well as the future of AI in tribal health, highlighting both positive impacts and concerns.

Other seminars addressed the future of health information technology and its implications for Native communities, cybersecurity key performance indicators, aligning IT vision with business needs, and foundational AI knowledge for executives.

The conference offered several tracks, including gaming and hospital technology, government technology, health information management, cybersecurity, leadership and management, and AI.

The event ended with a change management workshop for tribal technology leaders and cybersecurity workshops.

According to the conference website, TribalNet was formed in 1999 and has become a leading platform for technology opportunities in the tribal government, gaming, and healthcare sectors over the past two decades.

The dates for the 26th annual TribalNet Conference and Trade Show in Nevada have been announced for September 15-18, 2025.
