The last Thursday of July is set aside to honor the efforts of interns across different industries. This day offers a chance to celebrate the vital role they play in organizations.

National Intern Day was established by WayUp, a platform that links students and recent graduates with jobs. The occasion motivates employers to value their interns and provide impactful internship opportunities.

On July 31, 2025, many organizations took the time to congratulate their interns on social media.

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers featured 54 SHPE interns in a look book. These interns are dedicating their summer to advancing innovation at Medtronic. SHPE states that these interns come from 40 different universities, studying fields ranging from engineering to computer science.

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) shared a group photo of their interns for 2025, emphasizing the importance of celebrating all interns across the country. HACU partners with corporate and federal entities to provide internships that prepare the next generation of leaders. Read about the HACU National Internship Program in the upcoming issue of Hispanic Engineer magazine.

IBM noted that its interns have displayed creativity, curiosity, and energy all summer long.

Primerica, a leading provider of financial products and services with over 151,000 licensed financial representatives across North America, shared a 50-second video titled “A Day in the Life of a Primerica Intern” filmed at their corporate office.

Cisco highlighted that their interns are enjoying various activities, including AI workshops, F1 simulators, and digital branding sessions. They invited viewers to check out a behind-the-scenes look at a day in the life of their San Jose intern offsite, starting with a session led by a brand AI assistant.

NASA Langley Research Center also celebrated National Intern Day by featuring its interns. One research engineer intern is working on in-space robotic assemblies and shared exciting opportunities, such as helping design and test innovative structures that can be robotically built on the Moon or Mars. Another intern is focusing on developing a discrete energy model for NASA’s direct simulation Monte Carlo code.

NASA Marshall also announced that they have 165 interns from 81 institutions across 33 U.S. states and Puerto Rico this summer. At least four of these interns are applying their skills and innovation to assist with the Artemis generation and the future of space exploration.

Lockheed Martin Space spotlighted Jackie, a spaceflight software intern who is helping push the boundaries of what is possible in orbit. It’s worth noting that WayUp created National Intern Day in 2017.
