It’s College Graduation Season!

The University of Central Florida held six commencement ceremonies on May 3-4 and granted over 9,000 degrees.

May 4 saw the presentation of awards by the College of Engineering and Computer Science, College of Optics and Photonics, and College of Sciences.

The graduates included 2,967 degrees in STEM, 1,177 in engineering and computer science, 1,346 in business, 397 in hospitality-related, 359 in nursing, 230 in biomedical sciences, and 405 in digital and emerging media.

Over a quarter of the bachelor’s degree recipients, totaling 3,793 students, are eligible for Pell Grants, demonstrating the university’s commitment to providing equal opportunities.

Additionally, 1,654 bachelor’s degrees were awarded to first-generation students who will be the first in their families to graduate from college.

The UCF Office of Technology Transfer highlighted a new technology developed by researchers in the College of Engineering and Computer Science that provides accurate head counts of dense crowds in videos and still images.

Florida International University also held its Spring Class of 2024 commencement from April 28 to May 2.

The ceremonies were college-specific, with the College of Arts, Sciences & Education ceremony held on April 28 and 29.

The College of Engineering & Computing commencement occurred on April 30, followed by the College of Public Health and Social Work, College of Nursing and Health Sciences, and the College of Medicine on May 1.

The College of Communication, Architecture + The Arts and Business ceremony was held on May 2.

Nicole Vitale was presented as FIU’s Outstanding Graduate for her achievements in leading nutrition education in Montessori and training teachers nationwide.
