NASA’s Office of STEM Engagement (OSTEM) has announced the application deadlines for full-time and part-time internships for 2025. Students can apply by February 28 for summer internships and by May 16 for fall internships.

According to the OSTEM website, these internships allow students to gain practical work experience while collaborating with mentors who are research scientists, engineers, and professionals from various fields.

Internships provide high school and college students the chance to contribute to NASA’s mission of advancing science, technology, aeronautics, and space exploration.

Participants will gain valuable on-the-job experience, enhance their resumes, and improve their career readiness. There are three internship sessions offered each year.

  • Among the available internships is a generalist position in the Office of Communications at NASA’s Stennis Space Center. This role supports diverse tasks in both social and traditional media.
  • The NASA Audio Storytelling Internship presents an opportunity to work on stories related to various science and technology themes, including planetary science, Earth science, heliophysics, and astrophysics.
  • Students can also participate in a science storytelling program, gaining hands-on experience sharing content from NASA’s exciting science missions.
  • Additional internship opportunities focus on technical competencies related to robotic space missions investigating Earth and the solar system, as well as positions at a biorepository for non-human samples collected from NASA-funded spaceflight investigations and related ground studies.
  • OSTEM also offers a video series to inform students about the range of career opportunities at NASA.

The “University Day” virtual event allows graduate and undergraduate students to learn how to apply for a NASA internship and participate in a Q&A panel with current interns and mentors.

Additionally, a new series provides an in-depth look at NASA technologies that have been integrated into the sports industry.
