Career Communications Group (CCG) JobMatch Service links STEM college students seeking internships and full-time jobs.

JobMatch members are involved in CCG conferences, college career fairs, professional development and career networking events. CCG focuses on the promotion of STEM careers to historically underrepresented groups.

Top organizations in various industries like manufacturing, software/IT, defense, and government, listed in Hispanic Engineer & Information Technology magazine‘s Most Admired Employers for Minority Professionals survey, offer internship programs.

These programs provide students with opportunities to test their skills, get real-world work experience, and build a network of peers and mentors.

Many of these employers also participate in the National Association of Colleges and Employers’ Internship & Co-op Survey. 80% of them have said their internship or co-op programs are aimed at recruiting full-time employees.

While engineering and computer science graduates are in high demand, internship experience is considered crucial by employers.

A survey found that over three-quarters of employers prefer candidates with relevant internship work experience.

Additionally, employers are looking for a range of skills, qualities, and attributes in job candidates.

In addition to strong academic performance in science, technology, engineering, or math, candidates are encouraged to highlight their work experience, community involvement, and relevant experiences related to the internship they are seeking.

Managers emphasize the importance of active membership and leadership in associations and societies such as the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), and Mexican American Engineers and Scientists (MAES).

Engaging in activities within these organizations can help build a professional connection with the interviewer and provide a point of reference for questions about the candidate’s experience.
